Winning Students to Christ, Building them in their faith and Sending them to the World
We just finished up our sixth week of the new academic year. Many people who work with college students will agree that this is the most strategic time of the year: new friendships are forged, new temptations are encountered, and new found freedoms of being away from home are explored.
During this time we have been able to talk with 14 of the 16 teams on campus. It has been fantastic to be able to sit down face to face with these young men and women, many of the almost 100 freshmen, in the locker room and in the student union. To some we have asked the question “How do you define success spiritually?” Unfortunately many respond with “I try to live a good life”, not realizing that our good works fall short in gaining heaven or right standing with the Lord.
Jesus didn’t come to make “bad” people “good”; He came to make dead people alive.
Tom, a freshman on the baseball team, told me today that he wants to have Jesus. I wish you could have been with me as we talked together in the media room of the Cintas Center. God is at work in these young students’ lives. We are so privileged to see students respond to the Lord. Thank you for your partnersip in this work that the Lord is doing. Please keep praying for students to be drawn to Christ as we seek to present a ravishing view of Jesus.
