I am making a long-term plan and strategizing to set myself up for even greater success down the road. This is especially true in my strategy to use my golf in reaching college and amateur golfers for Christ as a USGA rules official.

A big door opened a few weeks ago when I was invited to be a rules official at the Pacific Northwest Golf Association’s Junior Championship. The highlight was when the “official in charge” (O.I.C.) came up to me and said, “I have been hearing about you.” He said he had heard that I was a good player and that I played college golf. He had also heard about me from another well-respected rules official. After he found out my high exam score, and my goals, he invited me to be a rules official at a women’s college tournament hosted by San Diego State University in February of 2025. He also gave me names of other O.I.C.’s of other tournaments and conference championships. This is all part of playing the long game. My dream is to be a rules official at the NCAA Nationals. This gets me behind the ropes where I can interact with the coaches and players.

I feel like God has granted me favor within the USGA Rules community. You can continue to pray for me in this regard. It has been a blessing for me to receive respect, especially as a woman. I am so thankful. I also feel like I am interacting with juniors, college players, and amateurs in ways that are unprecedented in this role. I have a degree of authority that they tend to listen to me and respect what I have to say.

On a side note, my own competitive golf had a highlight last week when I shot a 71. I haven’t gone that low since college. I continue to hope to be a witness for Jesus in all that I say and do. I also hope to experience the presence of God as I compete and as I officiate. May Jesus be glorified, and may I present a ravishing view of Jesus as I walk with Him.
