The photo above, taken by drone, shows the famous 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass. While I didn’t get to play the course (with The Players Championship around the corner, no one was allowed), I was grateful for both classroom and on-course training.

The highlight came on the final day when my instructor, wearing a GoPro, evaluated me on four in-person rulings on holes #2 and #3. I’ll be receiving the video soon with feedback, and one key piece of his advice was to “take control” more assertively. There was a moment when two golfers were in a heated argument over a cheating accusation. I had to quickly step in, make the right ruling, and get them back on track. It reminded me of the importance of confidence and staying in charge.

As a woman in ministry, I sometimes struggle with asserting myself, especially when faced with pushback from men. But I’ve been given authority by the USGA, and I need to stand confidently in that role.

I was also blessed to room with Dana, a USGA official and longtime friend. I also reconnected with Georgianne, another USGA official who I have known for many years from Cincinnati. I pray I can continue to shine as a light for Jesus wherever I go. Please join me in praying for favor as I prepare for upcoming college tournaments.
