Meet Gunnar and Rebecca. I (Mark) mentored them as they joined the staff of Athletes in Action.
The Lord knew that there were student athletes ready to hear the Gospel and craving Christian community at Queens University, so off they went to start a new AIA campus ministry at Queens.
Last year Rebecca met Ella, a sophomore on the volleyball team. The coach had been closed regarding them doing anything faith-based with the team, but when Ella, one of her players, offered to pray prior to their matches the coach was surprised to see that the entire team wanted to join Ella for the prayer. Those pre-match prayers continue to this day.
Ella is making a huge impact for the Lord on her team and on her campus. She leads a team Bible Study with 15 of the young women attending. Four of Ella’s teammates have given their life to Christ. Gunnar told me yesterday that he is blown away by what God is doing on campus.
One of the students from the team recently texted Rebecca and said, “Heyy girl, is there a time we can talk about salvation? I don’t really know what it means and I don’t know if I’m saved, but I want to be and I want to learn.”
Another young lady on the team said, “Before I came to Queens, I didn’t want any part of faith. But since joining the volleyball team so many of my teammates were such a light to me and started teaching me things about Jesus. I never thought I would become a Christ follower, but here I am today!”

Thank you for your Kingdom partnership with us. You are making an eternal impact in reaching the world for Jesus Christ.
