Susie and I taught an evangelism class for six weeks to a group of fifty people at our local church. The pastor worked alongside us, and we used our Cru training to help equip these people to share the good news of Jesus Christ. We gave them assignments and got to hear their excitement as they relayed to us their evangelistic encounters. We also helped them to write and share their personal testimony of how they came to know Jesus. It was especially precious to hear some of the older people talk about their lives and God’s faithfulness.
We are taking every opportunity to multiply our lives into the lives around us so that we can do our part in taking the gospel where the gospel is not.
Taja Wilson: a former student
We heard from one of our former students the other day when she sent us an unexpected note. We were encouraged to hear of her strong faith and continued walk with Jesus. We asked her to write you a note too, and here is what she said:
The college years are such a formative time in a person’s life. For Student-Athletes in particular, it can be easy to lose our identity in our sport.
Conversely, a strong fellowship community can make the biggest difference in finding and solidifying our identity in Christ.
I met Mark and Susie Hammitt when I arrived on campus, I was nursing sports injuries and navigating a transition to a brand new city and school. Immediately upon attending the Hammitts’ Athletes in Action weekly meetings, I felt right at home. It was a true blessing!
Mark and Susie always took the time to pray for and over us. They provided a sacred space. Every week, they empowered us as student-athletes to lead devotionals, to nurture each of our personal relationships with Jesus, to dig into the Bible and to bloom in our Faith. The seeds that the Hammitts have planted in the lives of others continue to grow impactful roots and inspire so many of us to do the same! As stated in their beautiful mission, they continue to boldly take the transformative love & truth of Jesus Christ to college students all over the world and help expand God’s kingdom. They are truly making disciples, who make disciples!
