We are happy to announce that our first grandchild has been born. Our daughter, Sarah, and her husband, Jake Roop, have been blessed with a little baby girl “Lucy Grace.” We praise God that both mom and baby are doing well. We are amazed at God’s creation and beauty in this child. Sarah, Jake, and Lucy live in the Chicago area, about a 6 hour drive from where we live in Cincinnati.
I absolutely adore being Lucy’s mom. The Lord has met me in my transition into motherhood by providing grace through care from family and friends, purposefulness during the 3am wake ups, and an over abundance of love and eagerness to care for Lucy. Motherhood has drawn me even closer to God’s throne of grace. I pray you are able to find joy with me in the news of Lucy’s arrival and the Lord’s faithfulness as He gives mercy and grace in our times of need (Hebrews 4:16). — Sarah
I was asked to speak at a Mom’s program at our church on “Missional Motherhood” the first week of April. I said yes, thinking that there would be no way Sarah would go into labor that early. Then, when the doctor told Sarah they would induce her early, I decided to do a video of my talk in case I would be in Chicago with her at the same time I was supposed to be speaking. I have uploaded my talk onto YouTube and I have a link on our website THEHAMMITTS.COM if you want to watch it. Look for a video with the title: “Living the Gospel.” Incidentally, I was able to give the talk in person, but many have asked for the content to share with a friend or family member, so it has been helpful that I can send them a link to this video.
Thank you for your Kingdom partnership with us as we take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to students (and young moms) around the world.
