The Action Group is designed to deepen their vision for reaching the campus with the Good News of Jesus and instill passion in the students hearts that will spill over into their teams. This semester we have been studying Ephesians and includes both our student leaders and staff team.
At the beginning of the school year I wanted to get every willing female athlete into a Bible study and then turn them over to our student leaders. My first one included some younger soccer players that wanted to grow. The next led me through open doors with the cheer squad. My third Bible study was with a little bit of a mixed bag with a couple of basketball girls and a tennis girl. (I kept hoping that some golfers would attend, but that never happened.) Amanda, one of our staff, took over leading the soccer team and Maddie (the shorter one standing next to me) caught the vision for leading the cheer Bible study and took that over after winter break.
We are so thankful to see a richer sense of community develop on campus between the various sports. Typically students do not become friends with students from other teams(imagine your junior high cafeteria experience.)
Pictured to the right are some students that are breaking that mold and who have become friends through my Bible studies. It has three cheer leaders, a soccer player and a basketball player.
Thank you for your ministry partnership with us! The Lord is using your involvement to not only teach God’s Word, but students are being raised up to lead their peers and significant life-changing friendships have been formed.
