Paolo

One year ago today, we met. It was after a pre-game chapel with the Xavier Men’s Basketball team, that this freshman basketball manager, named Paolo, asked me, “What are you doing with the team?” We talked in depth the next day. During that week we had several gospel conversations. Then on Saturday I received this text from him.

Within a few weeks he started being discipled by a sophomore on the soccer team named Samson, who is one of my disciples and part of the leadership of our AIA ministry on campus. That friendship grew as did his faith.

Paolo is going to crack open the door to his soul and his changed life this past year, in his own words:

I have been reading my Bible a lot. It is helping me to become a stronger Christian so I can help others. I have focused on the gospel of John lately; studying how Jesus interacts with people, both believers and non-believers. Jesus helps non-believers get to the point where they can believe in Him as Savior and surrender their life to Him. I want to help others come to Christ so they can experience what I have experienced.

It’s come to a point where I am now starting to share my faith with others, specifically with the other Xavier Men’s basketball team managers. We started a Bible study with some of the guys three weeks ago.

•I want to help others to experience what I have experienced. Especially, in the college setting.
Because now is a great time to start a relationship with God.
•I want to share it in a way so they can understand it very well and let Jesus into their life.
•I want to help these managers, my friends, my
colleagues, do the same.

Fellowship is so important to me. It is driving me to help others that don’t know God that well to be on the same path as I am so they move closer to making a decision to receive Christ. I can help them so that some day they can do the same and help others. Spiritual multiplication!

I want to eventually be an athletic director. I can’t wait to work with student athletes and help them find God’s love and plan for their life. It’s going to be a fun future.
