Making disciples who are making disciples

action-group-crop2As the school year began we decided students were ready for a new mode of ministry at Xavier…We felt that we had so much momentum from all of our students who attended the AIA Puerto Rico project this summer.  Why? Because on the project they were trained in evangelism and discipleship.   There seems to be a real “maturing” of our students who are now taking responsibility to disciple other students. So far, it seems to have been a great move.  Please pray for these students in what we call our “Action Group”.  These are the students who have accepted the challenge to make disciples who are making disciples.  The lessons that they are learning in Action Group, they turn around and teach their disciples. It is Jesus’ Great Commission of “go and make disciples” found in Matthew 28:18-20 being lived out on campus!

raindrops500A month ago there was a huge storm that ended up dumping five inches of rain on the Xavier campus within a period of two hours.  This caused a lot of destruction on campus and the surrounding area.  One of the consequences of the flooding was that it made the Xavier home soccer field condemned and unplayable.  This meant there would be no more “home” games. (Maybe for the rest of the season!) This in itself appeared as if it would be a negative, but the soccer coach asked Mark to talk about     adversity in his first time with the team in the aftermath of the           disaster.  Mark gave a Biblical message “God cares less about your circumstance than He does about the transformation of your soul.  See this as an opportunity to grow, rather than a difficulty.”  What happened next was astonishing!   The guys and girls on the soccer teams that are in our Action Group decided on their own to start student led pre-game prayers. Previous years, Mark and I had been leading all the pre-game chapels and prayers for their home games. Their disciples were teaming up with them and helping them to do this!  Sometimes in the locker room, and sometimes on the field before the game.  Soccer players who were previously hesitant to come to our chapels, now want to be involved as these brave young women and men lead the charge.

Please join us in praising God for His sovereignty and His blessing.

Thank you for your partnership with us in ministry!
